Let me introduce myself….

Hi there!  I am Amy, and this is my very first post on my very new website!  I am so excited, I can hardly stand it – thanks for visiting & hope you enjoy looking through the pictures of refinished furniture in my portfolio!

There is nothing more thrilling to me, than finding a piece of furniture that needs some love.  I love going to yard sales, thrift stores, auctions, & the ‘ol Good Will to find some of the coolest pieces that have so much potential.  Dressers are not just for clothes anymore!  I see one and think, “perfect entertainment center – so much storage!”   Matchy matchy is not my style – why not paint an old nightstand and use it as an end table in the family room?

My favorite method for painting furniture is distressing and glazing.  It gives a piece depth, and adds character.  I may go into more detail in a later post on exactly how I do a piece.  The shop will include photos of furniture that I have available for sale.  My hope is that this site will give you ideas or inspire you to try something new with your existing piece of furniture.

During – before sanding & glazing – the glaze completely changes the color….I know, it looks fluorescent blue here!

After – Sorry for the glare – I am not a photographer, that’s for sure!  I took the back panel off of the cabinet and replaced it with wainscoting, then glazed the wainscoting.  I am still waiting on a new glass shelf that I ordered for the middle (the one that was there was broken)  Yes, those Rachel Ray dishes are just sitting on the ledges :)….& now  I finally can display some of my Fiestaware!

After – I sanded & stained the top a dark espresso color, then painted the rest of the cabinet a creamy white.  Then, I sanded to distress a little – love how the grey paint comes through.

rocking chair

I got this rocking chair at an estate sale – perfect for my little girl’s room!  She even “helped” me paint it. 🙂

door

Why does an interior door have to be white??  Mine isn’t & I love it – it is the perfect ‘pop’ of color against the grey walls in my kitchen.  I panted it teal, distressed a little & used a brown glaze on top (the before photos were taken when the walls were off-white)

jewelry box

I love this little jewelry box – looks like a miniature dresser!  It was a dark brown wood, I painted it blue, then sanded and glazed it.
